$28 – $40 per hour, depending on school district, experience, and instructional background. Clean Economy Educators will receive wages from school districts (daily substitute teacher pay) plus an additional $50-150 per day stipend for delivering Clean Economy Education, based on experience and school location.
Hours
- Approximately 10–40 hours per week, depending on school scheduling and educator availability
- Primarily weekday daytime hours (program offered during the school year and summer school)
- Occasional training, preparation, or community engagement events may occur outside school hours
Primary Duties
- Serve as a trained substitute educator or guest speaker for schools
- Deliver interactive, solution-focused climate and clean economy education discussions, hands‑on learning activities, and career exploration discussions to middle and high school students. Lessons may be created or pulled from existing resources, such as (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)./
- Connect students with real‑world clean economy career pathways in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable technology sectors
- Participate in program training focused on climate science, clean energy workforce pathways, culturally responsive teaching, and youth engagement strategies
- Maintain online documentation of program delivery and feedback from students and educators and personal reflections after each lesson for continued program growth and reiteration, and development
- Represent We All Need Food and Water professionally and enthusiastically in school and community settings
- Support program improvement through feedback, reflection, and collaboration with staff and partners
- Willingness to learn and be in schools 3-5 days per week
- Experience working with middle school or high school youth, training adults, or presenting educational content
- Interest or background in climate solutions, energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainability, or workforce development, construction trades, environmental science, or related fields
- Strong public speaking, facilitation, and classroom management skills
- Ability to engage diverse learners using interactive and inclusive teaching strategies
- Comfort learning and presenting workforce-focused clean economy career information
- Ability to travel to school sites throughout the Twin Cities Metro Area
- Teaching license or substitute teaching eligibility for a Minnesota short-term substitute license. Although having a short-call substitute teaching license is not required at the time of application, it will be required before beginning employment. A CTE short-call substitute teaching license is available to individuals who have a 2-year or 4-year degree, five years of work experience, or an approved certificate in one of the CTE licensure areas.
