Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Safety Study Manager to lead and develop the technical safety and risk engineering services team in Kuala Lumpur. This is a senior role that combines technical authority, team leadership, and business development within the field of technical safety. The role will provide opportunities to shape the service offerings, support project execution, and maintain key client relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight for the technical safety team
  • Develop and enhance team capabilities and value-added services
  • Identify and secure business opportunities, contributing to proposals and tenders
  • Coordinate and support staff development and career progression
  • Manage project performance, resource allocation, and technical delivery
  • Support business development activities and foster client relationships
  • Ensure projects meet quality, efficiency, and profitability objectives
  • Facilitate workshops and contribute to technical studies, including risk analysis and formal safety assessments
  • Ensure compliance with company standards, procedures, and safety requirements
  • Lead single-discipline work scopes or contribute to multi-discipline studies
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, documents, and safety reports
  • Support operational excellence, continuous improvement, and development of local and regional strategies
Requirements
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering (MIChemE preferred)
  • Minimum 15 years' experience in technical safety, preferably within oil and gas
  • Strong experience in project execution during front-end engineering studies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of risk and safety methodologies, including HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, ALARP, LOPA, safety cases, and similar frameworks
  • Experience in preparation of qualitative, semi-quantitative, and quantitative risk studies
  • Knowledge of safety engineering principles, codes, and standards relevant to oil and gas
  • Ability to prepare safety reports, hazard registers, and workshop outputs
  • Previous experience leading teams and managing client interfaces
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and facilitation skills
