Job SummaryThe Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and components. This role applies engineering knowledge to support the planning, testing, and implementation of mechanical and electromechanical systems, including performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to analyze the structural integrity of the designed components. This job profile is intended for experienced professionals who apply practical knowledge of a job area and work independently with general supervision.
Purposeof the Job
Execute engineering tasks and act as a subject expert in mechanical engineering analysis and stress analysis with FEA software.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities- Analyze and calculate mechanical task issues such as stress analysis.
- Understand advanced mechanical engineering structural analysis, including stress concentration factors and ratio of stress to yield.
- Conduct advanced analysis using Finite Element Software, primarily ANSYS Mechanical and its derivatives.
- Understand fundamental geometry modification and advanced meshing.
- Apply full understanding of boundary conditions (constraints and forces).
- Understand fluid dynamics and CFD.
- Lead and conduct required meetings with shop personnel, customers, and others.
- Perform communication/contact with customers on technical issues or work progress.
- Explain highly complex structural analysis in easily understandable terms.
- Provide solutions for problems while maintaining quality, time, and cost objectives.
- Prepare engineering reports, including progress reports.
- Lead engineer as needed for field service activity.
- Communicate with third parties and/or customers for technical assistance required.
- Make and issue progress reports.
- Perform monitoring of vendors.
- Communicate with vendors for feedback.
- Identify and develop new procedures as required.
- Support ISO Coordinator to monitor implementation of existing procedures in shop and conduct required training for co‑workers.
- Monitor and issue engineering quality objective reports.
Mandatory:
- Preferably a Master’s degree in Mechanical/Aerospace/Lightweight Structural Engineering; a Bachelor’s with relevant experience strongly considered.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in stress analysis and FE analysis, preferably within ANSYS Workbench framework.
- Experience with CAD Software, preferably Inventor or ANSYS Workbench derivatives.
- Experience in MS Windows environments, especially for presenting and reporting activities.
- Passion to deepen FEA knowledge.
Value‑add:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in turbo‑machinery or rotating equipment repair.
- Minimum 3 years of API 687 exposure.
- Experience/exposure in Fluid Dynamic Analysis, preferably within ANSYS Fluent/CFX framework.
- Experience with project‑based workflow, project planning (such as with MS Project), and timeline management.
