TheLocal Support Team Manager (Interior, Exterior, and Seats & Restraints)
A senior technical leadership role responsible for end-to-end module ownership and engineering execution within India operations. The role focuses on driving engineering excellence across Interior, Exterior, and Seats & Restraints modules, ensuring alignment between design intent and plant execution, and delivering high-quality vehicles. The position will act as a bridge between Plant teams and HQ Engineering, ensuring timely problem resolution, validation, and implementation of engineering changes.
Based on program requirements, this role may expand to support international programs across Indonesia and other locations.
- Take full ownership of engineering activities for Interior systems (Trim, IP, Headliner, etc.), Exterior systems (Bumpers, Plastic trims, Closures), and Seats & Restraints.
- Ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing feasibility.
- Drive improvements in fit, finish, quality, and functionality.
- Engineering coordination with Indonesia focus.
- Act as the primary engineering interface between Plant Engineering teams (Indonesia) and HQ Engineering teams, ensuring seamless coordination across design, manufacturing, and quality teams.
- Lead structured problem solving using G8D / 8D methodology, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), ICA, and PCA.
- Ensure clear ownership of issues, timely containment, permanent fixes, and proper tracking and closure using JIRA, DCR, and ECR.
- Support escalations for plant and field issues.
- Plan and support engineering trials, design validation activities, and production builds.
- Represent engineering during vehicle builds and gate reviews, MML vehicle sign‑off activities, ensuring vehicles meet quality and compliance requirements.
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical / Automotive / Mechatronics Engineering.
Experience: 15–20 years in the specified module domains.

- Strong expertise in exterior components including bumpers, closures, trims, weather seals, and plastic parts.
- Hands‑on experience in fit & finish, gap and flush, and surface quality improvements.
- Good understanding of aesthetic quality, durability, and environmental performance.
- Experience in water leakage analysis, sealing validation, and wind noise (NVH) issues.
- Knowledge of tooling feasibility, manufacturing processes, and assembly constraints.
- Ability to identify and resolve fitment, alignment, deformation, and interference issues.
- Experience in vehicle build issues and plant‑level quality improvements.
- Strong technical understanding of interior systems including IP, trims, headliner, console, and door panels.
- Experience in fit & finish, perceived quality, and tactile/visual quality improvements.
- Knowledge of NVH (squeak & rattle), comfort, and ergonomic validation.
- Exposure to material selection, durability, and wear performance.
- Ability to handle assembly issues, part mismatch, and integration challenges.
- Experience in resolving field issues and customer complaints related to interiors.
- Familiarity with supplier development and localization activities.
- Strong expertise in seat systems including structure, mechanism, foam, and trim.
- Understanding of seat comfort, ergonomics, and adjustability performance.
- Knowledge of seat durability, strength, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Experience in restraint systems (seat belts, anchorage, integration with BIW).
- Ability to resolve fitment issues, alignment problems, and functional concerns.
- Exposure to safety standards, validation, and testing requirements.
- Hands‑on experience in issue resolution related to seat operation, noise, and performance.
- Exposure to multi‑program or export projects is an advantage.
