The Contract Logistics Manager is responsible for overseeing warehousing, distribution, and operational process excellence for our freight forwarding operations. This role requires a strategic thinker who can drive efficiency, ensure compliance, and enhance service delivery to meet customer expectations while optimizing costs.
Key Responsibilities- Warehousing & Distribution Management:
- Oversee day-to-day warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company standards.
- Manage inventory control processes to minimize losses and optimize stock accuracy.
- Implement best practices for warehouse space utilization and cost reduction.
- Develop and enforce safety, security, and regulatory compliance protocols in warehouse facilities.
- Operational Excellence & Process Improvement:
- Identify inefficiencies in warehouse and distribution operations and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and optimize standard operating procedures (SOPs) to streamline operations.
- Leverage data analytics and KPIs to monitor performance and drive decision-making.
- Implement automation and technology solutions to enhance logistics operations.
- Oversee daily warehouse operations (inbound, outbound, storage, VAS activities) ensuring smooth and accurate processes.
- Monitor warehouse productivity, utilization, and cost efficiency.
- Manage inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and reconciliation.
- Control operational expenses and ensure cost optimization in labor, transport, and materials.
- Manage MHE (Material Handling Equipment) and facility maintenance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand their logistics needs and provide tailored solutions.
- Coordinate with third‑party logistics providers (3PL) to ensure timely and cost‑effective distribution.
- Ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met with logistics partners and vendors.
- Monitor and control warehousing and distribution costs to improve profitability.
- Develop and manage budgets related to logistics operations.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities without compromising service quality.
- Compliance &
Risk Management:- Ensure adherence to all local, national, and international logistics regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to reduce operational risks.
- Maintain quality assurance and ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
- Warehouse space utilization & inventory accuracy
- Cost reduction & operational efficiency improvements
- Process compliance & adherence to safety standards
- Customers, Carriers, Transporters, Overseas agents, customs brokers.
- Internal stakeholders (details omitted for brevity).
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5‑7 years of experience in contract logistics, warehousing, and distribution within a freight forwarding or logistics company.
- Regional language – Based on location.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Experience in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Communication:
Fluent in English, strong interpersonal skills. - Technical:
Proficient in ERP (Cargo Wise One) and MS Office. - Analytical:
Skilled in issue resolution and cost management. - Commercial:
Knowledgeable in freight market dynamics. - Organizational:
Strong attention to detail, multitasking, and time management. - Problem‑Solving:
Proactive and calm in resolving operational issues.
