Are you a nurse living in Inuvik who wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of people in your community? Shift is looking for a casual Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team. Founded in 2011, Shift operates specialized care programs for adults and youth in some of Canada’s most remote communities. Our approach combines clinical care with relationship-building, trauma-informed support, cultural connection, and opportunities for experiential and on-the-land learning.

As an LPN with Shift, you’ll work alongside a multidisciplinary team to support adults with diverse needs. You’ll use your clinical skills while helping clients maintain their health, independence, and daily living skills. • Provide nursing care, administer medications, monitor health changes, and maintain accurate clinical records.
• Support individualized care plans, daily living activities, personal care, and client independence.
• Build trusting relationships with clients using a respectful, empathetic, and trauma-informed approach.
• Communicate with team members, families, and health professionals to coordinate care and report concerns.
• Promote a safe, supportive environment while following nursing standards, organizational policies, and professional boundaries.

• Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program.
• Eligibility to practise as an LPN in the Northwest Territories, including registration with the appropriate regulator.
• Training and experience administering medications.
• At least two years of nursing experience in community care, continuing care, a hospital, long-term care, or a similar setting.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team.
• Full Unrestricted Driver’s License and Clean Abstract.
• Clear criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening, immunization documentation, and tuberculosis screening, in accordance with applicable requirements.

• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and individualized care planning.
• A compassionate, non-judgmental approach and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
• An understanding of community resources and culturally responsive care.
• Knowledge of Inuvialuit and Gwich’in cultures.

  40/ per Hour + Seven Dollar Per hour Northern Allowance
