Full‑Time Mental Health Worker – Community Residential Setting

Position Overview

Mental Health Workers, operating in a Direct Support (DSP) capacity, provide direct support professional services and independent living skills training to the individuals we serve in our 24‑hour residential programs. These programs serve the needs of individuals in a home setting that is managed by RTI. Our clients include those with a severe mental illness (SMI CYP) and or traumatic brain injury (TBI) disability.

This role reports to the Program Manager and has no direct reports.

Role Responsibilities
  • Support individuals in independent living skills through 1:1 service.
  • Support individuals in mental health management through identifying coping skills, practicing coping skills, and alternative methods.
  • Teach and model community integration skills such as self‑managing medications, managing personal finances, appropriate interpersonal interactions, managing the public transportation system, completing the necessary tasks to maintain a home, and accessing community resources.
  • Interact informally with individuals to facilitate socialization and appropriate behavior.
  • Participate in scheduled and spontaneous recreational events.
  • Teachcepc healthy living habits and develop the accompanying skills.
Required Qualification and Experience

The Mental Health Worker shall be qualified under Minnesota law as follows:

  • High School Diploma or GED and relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Ability to pass a Department of Human Services background check.
  • Ability to pass the BCA Criminal Background Check and the Sexual Exploitation of Patients by Psychotherapist screen required by DHS.
  • Ability to pass screening required by Federal Human Services office of the Inspector General.
  • Ability to organize and work commute independently.
  • Willingness to travel within the Metro Area, for applicable mileage reimbursements, with a current driver’s license, clean record, and personal vehicle with insurance; and able to transport clients in that vehicle.
  • Possess a person‑centered approach, consistent with the Philosophical approach of the individual program and RTI.
  • Ability to work with culturally diverse populations.
  • Other skills as needed as the company and role expand or evolve.
Preferred Qualification and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in one of the behavioral sciences fields OR 2000 hours of supervised experience providing clinical services in mental health or children’s emotional care.

Physical & Mental Requirements
  • Walk, stand, sit, bend, climb stairs, use a ladder, and perform crisis prevention/intervention techniques.
  • Use hands for writing, typing, data entry, and medication dispensing.
  • Lift up to 40 lbs. and occasionally exert physical effort during duties.
  • Maintain vision and hearing necessary for reading charts, operating office equipment, using a computer, and driving a vehicle.

Compensation: $20 per hour

Job Type: Full‑time

Sun‑Thurs entusias 3:30 p‑8:00 a.m.
