Senior Logistics Specialist – Rail
Join CHS Inc. as Senior Logistics Specialist – Rail. This hybrid position is based at our Inver Grove Heights, MN corporate office. The successful candidate will be required to work on‑site at least three days per week. Relocation assistance is not available and remote applicants will not be considered.

SummaryCHS has an exciting opportunity in our Enterprise Rail Transportation team. We are looking for a Senior Logistics Specialist to complete our team. You must be customer focused with excellent communication skills, project management, and change‑management skills. Success comes from the ability to build relationships, solve complex problems in real‑time and drive efficiencies through expertise.
Responsibilities- Partner with internal stakeholders (trade, S&OP, finance, plant management) and railroad partners to meet rail capacity planning demands.
- Optimize pipeline for private fleet to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Handle network escalations and resolve issues promptly to maintain smooth operations.
- Proactively monitor, analyze, and deduce recommendations on industry trends to mitigate risk.
- Benchmark fleet performance/KPIs and develop best practices to industry standards.
- Manage data and use Power BI for analysis and reporting to support decision‑making.
- Implement and manage rail technology enhancements to improve operational efficiency.
- Oversee demurrage management to minimize costs and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate with rail asset management to ensure compliance with railcar maintenance and regulatory requirements and to collaborate on fleet sizing decisions.
- Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 4+ years of experience in Supply Chain and Procurement and/or Transportation and Logistics.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Proven experience managing private rail fleets, including optimizing fleet utilization and reducing operational costs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and rail technology.
- Excellent communication (verbal and written) and time‑management skills.
- Demonstrated coordination and organizational abilities.
