The HCA Nurse Residency Program provides tools to succeed in today’s hospital environment. The paid program assists transition out of the classroom through advanced clinical training, monthly educational sessions, preceptorship, simulation evaluation, mentoring from nurse leaders, and evidence‑based practice projects. RN Residents coordinate high quality, patient‑centered care in collaboration with medical providers and the care team, using established nursing models.
Responsibilities- Assess patient condition during admission and each shift, identifying and reporting changes in status
- Perform endorsed procedures, monitoring, and other functions as ordered by the provider, documenting care timely and thoroughly
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, and intervene as appropriate
- Respond promptly to patient requests, anticipating needs and resolving them proactively
- Teach patients, families, and caregivers about medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow‑up measures, translating complex terminology
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) obtained within 30 days of employment
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 1 year of employment
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
- Registered Nurse license or Graduate Nurse in the state
- No previous experience required
- Travel may be required for training
