Site Engineer (Civils infrastructure for underground cables

Site Engineer required for a Major Transmission project based in the UK. Responsibilities
- Act as the client's site-based representative across major underground cable transmission projects.
- Monitor and oversee civil construction activities to ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with design specifications.
- Inspect and report on trenching, excavation, duct installation, back filling and earthworks activities.
- Supervise the construction of temporary access roads, working areas, plant compounds and lifting areas.
- Review works around road, rail and watercourse crossings, ensuring compliance with project requirements
- Verify construction activities against approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and report design changes, non-conformances, contractor issues and construction risks.
- Maintain regular communication with the Engineering Manager, providing site updates and escalation of issues where required.
- Support quality assurance, progress monitoring and contractor performance management.
- Travel regularly across multiple project sites throughout Scotland as required.
- Civil Engineering background with experience on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.
- Proven site-based engineering experience within construction, utilities, energy, highways, drainage, water or other large infrastructure schemes.
- Strong knowledge of excavation, trenching, earthworks, duct installation and back filling activities.
Experience overseeing underground infrastructure works and associated construction methodologies.
- Understanding of works involving road, rail and river crossings.
- Experience of open-cut excavation and/or Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) is desirable.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and identify deviations, quality concerns and non-compliant works.
- Strong communication and reporting skills with the ability to work independently across remote sites.
- Energy or transmission sector experience is advantageous but not essential.
- Candidates from utilities, drainage, water, pipeline or other major civil infrastructure projects will also be considered.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness to travel extensively between project sites across Scotland.
- Self-sufficient, proactive and capable of working with minimal supervision.
