The Opportunity

OCU is delivering vital infrastructure projects across the UK's utility and energy sectors, helping to build and maintain the networks that power communities and support the country's future growth. As a Site Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in leading site-based activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction or utilities professional who enjoys leading teams, solving problems, and driving project performance. You’ll work closely with Construction Managers, site teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are completed successfully from start to finish.

What You’ll Do
  • Supervise day-to-day site activities, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project requirements.
  • Coordinate operational teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to maintain project progress.
  • Monitor workmanship and materials to ensure compliance with specifications, standards, and quality requirements.
  • Implement and promote safe working practices, ensuring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to maintain quality and compliance standards.
  • Monitor progress against programme requirements and provide updates to project teams and management.
  • Identify and resolve site issues, risks, and operational challenges to minimise disruption to delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records relating to site activities, inspections, materials, and project progress.
  • Support resource planning and ensure labour, plant, and equipment are utilised effectively.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, project teams, and other stakeholders.
What You’ll Bring
  • Previous experience within construction, utilities, infrastructure, or engineering environments.
  • Experience supervising site-based teams and coordinating operational activities.
  • Good understanding of construction methods, materials, and delivery processes.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organisational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to identify problems and implement practical solutions.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support teams.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Experience working within power, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Bonus if you hold SSSTS, SMSTS, IOSH, or similar industry qualifications.
  • It would be great if you have experience managing subcontractors and multiple work streams simultaneously.
  • It would be great if you have knowledge of quality assurance and compliance processes.
  • A qualification in Construction, Engineering, or a related discipline would be advantageous.
