Optometry Facilitator

Salary range: hourly rate based on UHI grade 5 pay scale.

Duration:
Sessional Post.

Working hours:

2 facilitated sessions per week, minimum 2 per semester.

Closing date: 12 July 2026.

Role Overview

As an Optometry Facilitator, you will support the delivery of problem‑based learning modules within the optometry curriculum, guiding students through case‑based learning without direct teaching. This includes introducing cases, providing information, setting learning goals, and helping students research in teams. The role is part‑time, 0.2 FTE (7 hours per week) for a minimum of two weeks per semester.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver two facilitated sessions per week.
  • Prepare facilitator notes to guide student research.
  • Assist students in defining research topics and understanding clinical cases.
  • Ensure sessions run according to curriculum objectives.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Background in science or healthcare.
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with students in a problem‑based learning environment.
  • No specific optometry knowledge required.
