Location:
UHI Inverness
Salary: £27,174 – £28,639 pro rata 1 FTE (increasing to £28,098 – £29,613 from 1 September 2026).
Position:
Student Support Assistant – fixed term until 11 June 2027, 7–35 hours per week (flexible availability).
Student Support Assistants support learners with additional support needs, helping them engage fully in learning and achieve their potential. The role involves working closely with lecturers to support individual learners within a class group setting to help them successfully complete their programme of study at this critical time of the year.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with lecturers to identify students requiring additional support and develop tailored assistance plans.
- Provide one‑to‑one and group support to learners, facilitating academic progress and wellbeing.
- Assist students in accessing and using study resources, online learning platforms and assistive technologies.
- Monitor and report on student progress, raising concerns to the appropriate staff and departments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of support services and student experience.
- Proficiency in communicating with university students and a supportive, empathy‑driven approach.
- Experience in a student support, teaching assistance or educational setting is highly desirable.
- Must be able to pass a satisfactory PVG scheme membership prior to commencing employment.
- Applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK; UHI Inverness does not hold a sponsorship licence for work visas.
