Nordex has an exciting opportunity for the role of Wind Turbine Service Technician based at the Millennium Windfarm in Inverness-Shire.

Contract Type: Permanent
Location: Millennium Windfarm, Inverness-shire
Hours: Our core hours are 40 per week (Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm) with a requirement to work overtime when required.

Our Service Technicians are also required to be available for any breakdowns and faults at the weekend, working on‑call every 2nd or 3rd weekend (depending on the size of your team). Overtime is paid at time and a half, and you will receive an additional payment for the weekend you are on‑on‑call.

How can you make a difference?

As a Wind Turbine Service Technician, you will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of Nordex wind turbines covering turbines at the Millennium windfarm. You will carry out general and specialised work including repairs, troubleshooting and fault‑finding activities to ensure our wind turbines continue to achieve a high level of availability.

What will you be doing?

You will be responsible for wind turbine availability by physically troubleshooting turbines not performing to capacity on various wind farms, analysing data, and creating/supporting action plans to increase performance in the fleet.

Key responsibilities for this role include:
  • On‑site performance analysis and action plan implementation
  • Working closely with technicians and back‑office staff to perform on‑the‑job demonstrations
  • Supporting on‑site single turbine improvements on problem turbines
  • Providing on‑site software and hardware updates
  • Supporting online and on‑phone technical support
  • Creating reports on turbine or Starr components
  • Parameter disabling and alarm change handling when necessary
What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have experience working in the mechanical/electrical industry and be able to demonstrate knowledge of reading electrical, hydraulic and mechanical diagrams.

You will be mechanically or electrically trained through time‑served or a technical college qualification, which should be at least NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

Applicants must be able to identify and define problems, extract crucial information from technical data, and develop workable solutions.

Other essential skills and behaviours required for this role include:
  • The ability to adapt to an environment of continuous change and different challenges
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to learn, lead and continuously improve
  • Computer literate and confident in using MS Office packages Tilburg, in‑house databases and workload management systems
  • This role involves working at heights, up to 140 m. Candidates must be fit and healthy and pass a working‑at‑height test.
  • Candidates will be required to travel occasionally, including nights έχουνà home
  • A full UK/EU driving licence is required
