What you'll be doing
  • Always follow Balfour Beatty’s four Golden Rules.
  • Carry out all work safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a positive attitude toward safety and colleagues.
  • Report all near misses, hazards, and observations to the hotline and your Supervisor.
  • Follow company and manufacturer procedures to meet required standards.
  • Inform the Supervisor or Chargehand of anything that could affect progress (e.g., breakdowns, damage).
  • Complete maintenance and inspection checks accurately and submit them on time.
  • Keep the depot clean and tidy.
  • Make sure task briefings are completed before starting work.
  • Produce work to the required quality and quantity standards.
  • Work proactively with Charge hands and Supervisors to plan ahead.
  • Take an active role in Daily Activity Briefings and team briefings.
  • Maintain good understanding of processes and equipment.
  • Be flexible with overtime and break times when needed.
  • Support team members and show willingness to help.
  • Demonstrate Balfour Beatty behaviours (6 E’s) and contribute ideas for improvement.
  • Share knowledge and help train others when needed.
  • Communicate and collaborate consistently with the team.
  • Be willing to learn, ask questions when unsure, and listen to others.
  • Show a positive attitude and lead by example.
  • Be capable of temporarily taking on Supervisor duties when required.
Who we're looking for
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with Supervisors.
  • Able to work well within a team environment.
  • Confident in challenging others appropriately and open to being challenged.
  • Good understanding of work package plans, method statements, procedures, risk assessments and site‑specific rules (including lift plans).
  • Must hold an HSE CSCS card.
