For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you’ll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office - Inverness.
Salary: £58,100 - £87,100 + car /car allowance + performance‑related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

We focus on ensuring that we have no injuries or serious environmental incidents and that people are healthy and happy Safety Health and Wellbeing (SHW) function helps our teams across SSE to deliver this and ensure that we get everyone home safely at the end of the working day.
You’ll be a highly technical, competent and professional Regional Health and Safety Manager within the SHW team, providing proactive and pragmatic occupational safety advice and guidance to internal and external stakeholders across the Transmission business.
Responsibilities- Provide Safety Leadership and expertise to SSEN Transmission's Onshore Delivery directorate and other directorates as required, within allocated regions to ensure the successful implementation of the Transmission and SSE Safety Management Systems, and legislative compliance where applicable.
- Effectively manage a team of Occupational Safety Advisors to support a large portfolio of Large Capital Projects, including site presence proportionate to risk, to foster a positive culture in creating a healthy, happy and safe workplace.
- Take a lead role in delivering on the SSEN Transmission SHW Strategy and associated objectives, providing expertise to senior project leaders, and driving improvements through innovative solutions and positive collaboration, including with our contract partner community.
- Provide support to Lead Safety, Health and Wellbeing Manager in affecting strategic improvements in workplace safety arrangements and deputising where required.
- Drive safety standards across all areas and champion the use of SSE's Safety Licence: if it’s not safe, we don’t do it.
- You should have experience in safety management on construction projects and / or within the utilities or similar high hazard industry; with a pragmatic, flexible, people centred approach.
- You should hold a NEBOSH Diploma or relevant equivalent and be able to demonstrate practice of knowledge through experience.
- You should have sound working knowledge and application of UK Health & Safety legislation, in particular Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015 in a similar high hazard industry.
- You will demonstrate professional internal and external stakeholder management skills to drive cross business collaboration to build a high performing, commercially and customer focused safety culture.
- You should be an excellent communicator with a natural ability for building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. You will have the ability to use a wide range of techniques to influence change at all levels of the organisation and will possess a well-structured, systematic approach with the ability to identify and analyse complex technical issues and understand risks in order to provide appropriate solutions.
Due to the nature of travel associated with this role, a valid UK Driving Licence is essential.
