Statutory Compliance Project ManagerLead the implementation and ongoing adherence to DSEAR (Dangerous Substances Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002) as part of the Process Safety Compliance Team, ensuring full compliance against the regulation and company standards.
Key Responsibilities- Complete DSEAR site risk assessments and hazardous area classifications.
- Assure DSEAR compliance across all functional areas.
- Manage the periodic statutory inspection of assets and equipment within hazardous areas.
- Support remedial rectification of non‑compliant equipment and installations.
- Control DSEAR activity‑related risks.
- Provide technical support to the business regarding DSEAR compliance and share best practice.
- Manage contractors to ensure compliance and delivery of DSEAR inspection and remedial tasks.
- Support DSEAR competency improvements across Severn Trent (ST) and Hafren Dyfrdwy (HD).
Support related Health & Safety standards, regulatory updates, safety bulletins and accident investigations. Measure performance against strict compliance criteria and service level agreements, resolving issues and risks promptly.
Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships via regular review meetings, comm cell and team meetings. Develop systems and processes for DSEAR compliance data management.
Handle both operational and capital financial management related to the delivery of compliance activities.
Qualifications and Experience• Experience delivering multi‑site projects with operational and H&S risk.
• Excellent understanding of DSEAR, associated standards and approved codes of practice.
• Working knowledge of wastewater and water treatment processes, and explosive atmospheres in the water industry.
• Proven experience managing contractors and suppliers.
• Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems and associated maintenance/operational activities is beneficial.
• Desirable qualifications:
Electrical/mechanical discipline minimum NVQ level 3, Comp Ex, APM or equivalent, and IOSH/NEBOSH.
• Full UK driving licence required.
