For this role, we require successful applicants to be based from one of our Scottish locations and you'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in the office - Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness.

Salary: £36,200 - £54,400 + car/car allowance + performance related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

At SSEN Transmission, we are leading the UK's transition to net zero by developing and delivering major, large-scale terrestrial transmission infrastructure. As an Assistant Consents and Environment Manager (Operations), you will join our team and play an essential role in enabling Scotland’s renewable energy ambitions, supporting our Networks team to maintain our assets through their operational life cycle.

• Support operational teams in maintaining the network, ensuring all ecological consenting and environmental requirements are identified, understood, and integrated into asset management systems.
• Collaborate with the wider Consents and Environment team to ensure that all enduring ecological planning conditions are fully understood at an early stage to facilitate effective project handover.
• Implement proportionate monitoring regimes for Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and protected species and provide advice to Operational teams where necessary, to ensure goals and targets are met.
• Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including operational teams, project teams and statutory authorities.

• Knowledge of environmental legislation and consenting regimes, alongside relevant work experience.
• Proven project management skills, including consenting oversight, environmental compliance, consultant management, cost control, risk management, quality oversight, and programme coordination.
• A degree (or equivalent) in an ecological discipline, ideally complemented by a postgraduate qualification, with experience gained in sectors such as infrastructure, statutory bodies, or consultancy.
• Experience with obtaining ecological permits and licences and working with the business to ensure appropriate mitigation is implemented.
• A proactive and adaptable approach, with the ability to embrace challenges and opportunities within a changing environment.
