Regional Choir Accompanist

NYCOS is seeking a talented accompanist for the Inverness Regional Choir. The accompanist supports all sections of the choir, working across a diverse repertoire that includes contemporary Scottish composers and music from around the world.

As Regional Choir Accompanist, you will provide vital musical support to the Inverness Regional Choir at weekly rehearsals and performances. You will work with all sections of the choir across a diverse repertoire, including music by contemporary Scottish composers and works from around the world, helping to foster an inspiring and supportive musical environment for young singers from Primary 4 to S6.

The Inverness Regional Choir performs regularly in concerts throughout the year, giving children and young people opportunities to share their musical progress and celebrate their achievements with family and friends. You will work alongside the Regional Choir Director and qualified Music Staff who support the delivery and running of the choir.

This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support the musical development of young people while contributing to NYCOS’s mission to promote and grow choral singing across Scotland.

What you’ll do:

• Accompany all rehearsals during weekly sessions
• Play for summer and winter concerts, along with possible additional events
• Support the musical development of choir members through high-quality accompaniment
• Work collaboratively with the Regional Choir Director and Music Staff team
• Comply fully with all safeguarding policies and procedures

What we’re looking for:

• Highly skilled pianist with strong sight-reading ability
• Proven experience as an accompanist
• Experience of working with children and young people
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for, and commitment to, NYCOS’s mission to promote and enhance choral singing in Scotland
• A clear understanding of best practice in safeguarding children

Up to 3 hours for 26 weeks during school term time
Winter and Summer concerts and other performances as required

£40 per hour
