Payroll Specialist – 12-month Fixed Term Contract (Inverness)

You will be joining a well‑established organisation based in Inverness with a strong presence across the Highlands. The business has a strong local presence and a reputation for stability, teamwork and long‑term career development. As the company continues to grow, the finance team is expanding, creating an opportunity for an experienced payroll professional to take ownership of this key function.

Your New Role

In this role you will be responsible for delivering the end‑to‑end payroll process for both weekly and monthly paid employees. You will manage all aspects of the payroll cycle, ensuring that timesheets, hours and overtime information are accurately uploaded, checked and processed. The role involves navigating a degree of complexity around variable hours and overtime; you will ensure all data is validated and reconciled before payslips are issued.

You will act as the main point of contact for payroll enquiries across the business, providing clear and timely support to colleagues.

Alongside your payroll responsibilities, you will contribute to the wider finance function by assisting with sales ledger duties and offering general support during busy periods, allowing you to broaden your experience within the finance team.

What You'll Need to Succeed
  • Experience of processing payroll from start to finish, handling both weekly and monthly cycles and working with timesheets, overtime and variable pay.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and good communication skills.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and respond to queries professionally.
  • Willingness to support wider finance duties.
  • Willingness to work full‑time from the Inverness office and collaborate with the wider team.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary.
  • Development opportunities.
  • Chance to build expertise in payroll and finance.
  • Opportunity to progress into a permanent role.
