Midwife Sonographer / Obstetric Sonographer

We are looking for a highly motivated midwife / obstetric sonographer to join our team in the obstetric ultrasound department / fetal medicine unit at Raigmore Hospital. Raigmore provides midwifery, obstetric and neonatal care to pregnant women and their families across the Scottish Highlands.

The team of four midwife sonographers generates approximately 11,000 scans per year. We maintain a high professional standard through peer review and audit, consistently ranking in the top ten UK units for detection of small for gestational age fetuses.

Our equipment includes seven Voluson E10 machines.

• Perform all obstetric examinations, including RCOG guidance on MCA PI and UAPI screening.
• Handle EPAU, fetal medicine, maternal medicine, twins and specialist ANC scans, including screening pathway scans and general obstetric growth scans.
• Use the Perinatal Institutes GROW package as part of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle v3.
• Work independently to produce diagnostic reports and provide accurate clinical findings to clinicians.
• Participate in audit, teaching and mentorship activities as required.

• Qualified midwife or relevant degree level qualification leading to a PGC minimum in obstetric ultrasound.
• Evidence of performance in quality assurance of first trimester screening (DQASS plot or equivalent).
• Proficiency with peer review tools used to assess image quality.
• Current knowledge of obstetric ultrasound practice.
• Willingness to undertake audit, teaching and mentorship when required.

• Part‑time or job‑share hours available.
