About the RoleWe are seeking a self‑motivated individual to join our Acute Medicine for the Elderly Physiotherapy Team. This team works across a range of in‑patient ward areas including Acute Medical Admission, Short Stay Medical, Medicine for the Elderly and Infectious Diseases. Experience can be gained in the field of frailty and within the specialist outpatient area of ambulatory emergency care.
Responsibilities• Support the Physiotherapy Medicine for the Elderly Team Leads with the effective day‑to‑day running of the physiotherapy service in this unit.
• Support the professional development of rotational Band 5 physiotherapy staff, physiotherapy healthcare support workers and physiotherapy students.
• Participate in the emergency duty respiratory on‑call service.
• Apply your own initiative and organise your clinical caseload while working as part of a team.
Applications are invited from physiotherapists who have knowledge in a wide range of common and complex disorders associated with ageing and who have experience of discharge planning and excellent communication skills.
• Experience of working in an acute NHS hospital.
• Ability to use your own initiative, organise your clinical caseload and work collaboratively within a team.
An active continuous professional development programme and staff appraisal systems are in operation within the Physiotherapy Department.
