About the role

Working under the direction of the nursing team to lead on and provide person centred care for the people that live with us. Following their individual care plans to support their health, physical, emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing needs.

Key responsibilities
  • Assist the nursing team in delivering safe and effective care to Service Users.
  • Supporting the completion and/or carrying out self-help tasks for those Service. Users who are unable to do those tasks themselves; helping more abled Service Users who may also need assistance.
  • Provide assistance in self-help tasks in such a way that the Service Users have opportunities to learn new skills, maintain old ones and develop existing skills.
  • To offer support in a positive, engaging way, ensuring the rights of each Service User are maintained.
  • To work with the Service Users ensuring their dignity, privacy and wishes are respected at all times.
  • Completing shift planner.
  • Supervising the floor.
  • Acting as a 'buddy' to more junior staff and a 'go to' person for care related queries.
  • Provide support for new starters as part of their induction programme.
  • Working alongside service IPC leads to train other staff to complete audits, e.g. IPC and mattress audits.
  • Assisting nurse with diary management, e.g. arranging escorts/ambulances for external appointments.
  • Overseeing and planning of Health & Wellbeing Support staff led activities.
About You
  • Qualified to Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Essential).
  • Registered with Social Care Wales or willing to register within the first 6 months of employment (Essential).
  • Experience of working as a Senior Support Worker (Essential).
  • Experience in a mental health setting.
  • Resilient, able to deal with challenging behaviours.
  • Collaborative working approach.
