Job Description & How to Apply Below

The Role

This is a varied and rewarding role supporting adults with rehabilitation, mobility, and functional independence, working as part of a multidisciplinary team across hospital and community environments.

The Role

As a Physiotherapy Assistant Practitioner, you will work with registered Physiotherapists. You will carry your own non-complex caseload of patients and be expected to manage your own caseload. You will primarily be delivering service to elderly rehabilitation patients in the RNI Community Hospital Ward. We are looking for someone part time who could work mornings Monday to Friday ideally, so would suit someone with a young family.

Weekend work is currently not required.

You will:

Support rehabilitation, mobility, exercise, and functional reablement programmes, assist with patient assessment, monitoring progress, and reporting outcomes, promote patient independence, dignity, and safety, contribute to discharge planning and prevention of unnecessary hospital stays, support equipment provision, record keeping, and service efficiency, and the post offers an excellent opportunity to develop skills within an integrated hospital‑to‑home pathway.

You will work closely with:
  • Physiotherapists
  • Nurses and OTs
  • Integrated Team members
  • Patients, carers, and families

The role involves working across ward‑based and community settings, so flexibility and the ability to work independently are essential.

What We’re Looking For

You should have at least 4 years relevant experience experience in Physiotherapy or related service, experience supporting rehabilitation or therapy interventions (health or social care setting), good communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work both independently and as part of a team, a positive, patient‑centred approach to care, confidence working with adults with complex health and mobility needs.

Why Join NHS Highland?

Work across both hospital and community settings, support meaningful rehabilitation and recovery, be part of a supportive, integrated multidisciplinary team, access to learning, development, and career progression opportunities, NHS pension and Agenda for Change terms and conditions
