Position: Oncology Pharmacist (Specialist)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and highly motivated pharmacist to join the Oncology Pharmacy Team at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness. The oncology pharmacy team at Raigmore Hospital provides specialist cancer services for NHS Highland as part of the North Cancer Alliance (NCA), treating patients with solid tumours and haematological malignancies. The Raigmore Hospital Cancer Care team also has a broad research portfolio and participates in a wide range of cancer clinical trials.

You will join a team committed to the development of services to cancer patients and will be given the opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge and skills within a challenging but supportive environment. You will gain a breadth of experience across oncology and haematology services including clinical services, cancer clinical trials services and the electronic chemotherapy prescribing system (Chemocare), as well as operational aspects of aseptic dispensing services.

You will primarily work within the Macmillan Day Bed Unit, working closely with the Oncology Consultants, Specialist Doctors, Specialist Nurses and Senior Oncology Pharmacists. This is an exciting time within the team where we are looking to update our services and there will be opportunities for involvement in audit and project work which can help towards the RPS Advanced Practice Portfolio.

We are aiming to set up a pharmacist prescribing clinic in outpatient oncology and a successful candidate would have the opportunity to get involved with this.

You will be a GPhC registered pharmacist with excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Committed candidates who are interested in developing a role in cancer services but have limited or no prior experience in cancer care are also encouraged to apply as full support and training will be provided to enable you to develop your role. You will be encouraged and supported in your career development based on the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework.

You will be required to work in the emergency on-call, weekend working and public holiday rotas.
