About the business unit

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

Overview

of the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to support the delivery of large, complex and critical energy infrastructure projects in Scotland sites. The successful candidate will work closely with the wider project management team and provide strong leadership across commercial, contractual and delivery activities.

Key responsibilities and duties include:
  • Lead and coordinate project delivery activities to achieve agreed safety, quality, programme and cost objectives
  • Manage client, contractor and multidisciplinary team interfaces, maintaining clear and effective communication
  • Administer NEC3 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, instructions and contractual communications
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts, commercial performance, programme, risks, changes and delivery milestones
  • Prepare clear project reports and provide timely updates to senior stakeholders
  • Promote a collaborative team culture and support effective decision-making and issue resolution
  • Ensure appropriate governance, assurance and project controls are maintained throughout the project lifecycle
Candidate specification

Essential:

  • Extensive experience in project management experience within energy, utilities, construction or major infrastructure
  • Strong commercial capability and demonstrable experience managing project cost, change and contractual risk
  • Substantial working knowledge of NEC contracts, particularly NEC3
  • Proven experience working directly with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary delivery teams
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills
  • A collaborative approach and commitment to building a strong team ethos
  • Ability to operate effectively in a complex, high-profile and safety-critical project environment

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering transmission, distribution, renewable energy or other critical national infrastructure projects
  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional experience
  • A recognised project management qualification or professional membership, such as APM or equivalent
  • NEC3 Project Manager accreditation
