An exciting opportunity has arisen for you to join the south sector liver nurse team. You will assess, manage and treat patients with liver disease, run your own nurse clinics independently, manage new patient referrals, review patients recently discharged from hospital, and manage patients with cirrhosis. You will also oversee patients undergoing treatment for Hepatitis C and B, and teach students and other staff members.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic nurse who will be able to manage their own workload. You will require excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills and will deliver care in a busy environment.
Duration, Location, and Working PatternThere are 2x permanent posts available. This is a 2 day post (week days). You will primarily be based at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Victoria Ambulatory Care Hospital but you may be required to work at Gartnavel General hospital as required.
Full‑time and part‑time hours will be considered. Salary is pro rata for part‑time hours.
Key responsibilities- Assess, manage and treat patients with liver disease.
- Run own nurse clinics independently.
- Assess new patient referrals.
- Review patients recently discharged from hospital.
- Manage patients with cirrhosis.
- Oversee patients undergoing treatment for Hepatitis C and
B. - Teach students and other staff members.
- Participate in twice‑weekly MDTs with consultant hepatologists and pharmacy colleagues.
Essential
- First Level Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and significant post‑registration experience.
- Significant experience in gastroenterology or other relevant setting.
- Ability to fulfil criteria outlined in the job description.
- Certificate in intravenous cannulation and venepuncture.
Desirable
- NMC qualification as Nurse Prescriber.
- Working towards Clinical Specialist Degree.
- Driver’s licence.
- A minimum of 27 days annual leave, increasing with length of service, plus public holidays.
