An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Acute Services Infection Prevention and Control Team for a Band 6 Infection Prevention and Control Nurse on a fixed-term or secondment basis until September 2027
.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic first-level registered nurse with either experience in an infection prevention and control role or substantial post-registration experience within acute services. Applicants should be educated to degree level or working towards this.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across a range of clinical environments. The role covers services across North Highland Acute Services
, including the National Treatment Centre, Raigmore Hospital, Caithness General Hospital and Belford Hospital.

The post will be based in Inverness
, however regular travel across sites is required, therefore a full driving licence is essential
.

You should hold a recognised Infection Prevention and Control qualification
, or be able to demonstrate a strong interest in IP&C, with the ability to work independently whilst receiving support and supervision from the Senior IP&C Nurse.

The post holder will support the delivery of a high-quality Infection Prevention and Control service, working collaboratively with clinical and non‑clinical teams to reduce healthcare‑associated infections (HCAIs) and ensure compliance with national standards, including the National Infection Prevention and Control Manual (NIPCM), through audit, surveillance, training and education programmes.
