Rate: £Market rates per day (via Umbrella company)

• Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based applications and microservices.
• Deliver high-quality, secure, and maintainable code in line with government development standards.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
• Collaborate with solution architects and technical leads to define application architecture and technical approaches.
• Integrate applications with APIs, databases, and third‑party services.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and Dev Ops practices to enable efficient software delivery.
• Conduct code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application defects and production issues.
• Ensure compliance with security, accessibility, and data protection requirements.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation.

• Strong commercial experience developing applications using Java.
• Experience with Spring Boot and related Spring Framework technologies.
• Strong understanding of RESTful API design and development.
• Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, or SQL Server.
• Knowledge of software design patterns and object‑oriented programming principles.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and automated deployment practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery environments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
