Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Corrections Nurse to join our healthcare team in a secure correctional facility. This role involves delivering direct patient care, triaging acute conditions, managing chronic illness, and responding to medical emergencies in a fast-paced and unique environment. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals and correctional staff to ensure the health and safety of the inmate population.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform nursing assessments and document findings accurately
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
Respond to emergencies and provide urgent/emergent care
Manage and monitor chronic health conditions
Coordinate care with physicians, mental health providers, and support staff
Maintain accurate and confidential medical records
Ensure compliance with facility protocols, regulatory standards, and ethical practices
Support intake screenings and ongoing assessments
Educate patients about medication, self-care, and disease management
Required Qualifications:
Active RN in California
At least one (1) year of recent clinical experience
Current BLS certification with American Heart Association
Strong critical thinking, communication, and documentation skills
Ability to work independently in a secure and structured environment
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in correctional healthcare
Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR)
Secure correctional facility setting
Regular exposure to potentially stressful situations
Safety training and security protocols provided and required
