Posted 1 day ago. The Iowa Health Care Department of Guest Services is seeking a 80% Clerk III to cover multiple areas including 5 Information Desk locations. Hours are scheduled between 6:00 AM and 8:00 PM Monday‑Friday, with additional weekend and rotating holiday coverage as needed. The primary focus is the Patient Discharge Lounge, where the clerk assists discharged patients and coordinates Lost and Found items.
Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service to patients, families, guests, and staff, maintaining a positive and professional attitude at all times.
- Utilize communication skills to give information, directions, and assistance for patients and guests on the telephone and in person.
- Provide service recovery when needed, assessing situations and ensuring service‑excellence initiatives are met.
- Answer phone calls and provide appropriate responses, following customer‑service standards; make and transfer calls to the appropriate parties.
- Respect dignity and privacy of all patients and guests and observe privacy encounter directives.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with UI Health Care and HIPAA guidelines.
- Assist with wheelchair transport and arrange patient and guest transport requests via the transport module in Epic.
- Coordinate desk deliveries, log items, and contact appropriate departments in a timely manner following proper protocols.
- Maintain, record, and monitor Lost and Found items, researching and contacting owners as needed.
- Comply with UI Health Care and Guest Services cash‑handling policies and procedures.
- Provide information on parking options.
- Process valet transactions using the CVPS electronic valet system and appropriate cash register functions.
- Any combination of related clerical office experience, related undergraduate education, and/or post‑high‑school clerical training equivalent to two years of full‑time employment.
- Experience in public contact/customer service.
- Cash handling skills.
- Exceptional service excellence in a fast‑paced environment.
- Strong communication, attention to detail, and multi‑tasking skills.
- Professional presence.
- Computer software proficiency and basic office equipment operation.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for periods of time.
