DetailsThe Department of Teaching and Learning within the College of Education at the University of Iowa is seeking an adjunct instructor for the following course taught in the Spring semester 2026:
SIED:3164 – Introduction to Science in Society- This general education course introduces students to scientific inquiry methods and the exploration of core principles and evidence underlying current knowledge regarding global socioscientific challenges like climate change and freshwater access. Topics include: scientific literacy; interdisciplinary understanding of life, physical, and earth sciences; skills in investigation, data analysis, and decision-making processes.
Instruction and student support for the 3-semester hour course will include the following responsibilities:
- Leading instruction and grading for one lab section
- Participating in weekly lecture
- Meeting with teaching team for weekly planning meetings
- Holding office hours
- Managing the online course system (ICON) for the course
Master's degree in an education-related field. Special consideration will be given to science-related fields.
QualificationsAdjunct Instructor must have completed an accredited Teacher Education Program in the United States and held a teaching license in the United States.
Required ExperienceAdjunct Instructor must have successfully completed a minimum of two years of teaching at the Elementary, Middle School, Junior High or High School level.
