Welcome! The City of Iowa City is now accepting applications for Police Officers.

Entry level officer starting wage is $65,991 annually and certified officer starting wage is commensurate with experience up to $98,087 annually. ILEA certified officers also qualify for a $5,000 signing bonus. The residency requirement has recently been expanded to living within 25 miles of the corporate limits of Iowa City within one year of hire.

• Days – 6:45 am to 3:15 pm or 7:15 am to 3:45 pm
• Evenings – 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm or 3:15 pm to 11:45 pm
• Nights – 10:30 pm to 7 am or 11 pm to 7:30 am
• Investigations – hours vary

ICPD has authority for 85 sworn officers.
