Physical Therapist Assistant - North Liberty
The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Health Care North Liberty Campus is looking for a Physical Therapist Assistant to perform prescribed rehabilitation treatments primarily in an outpatient physical therapy clinic specializing in treatment of patients with orthopedic conditions with secondary focus on patients with neurologic conditions or sports related injuries.
- Carry out and progress treatment plans
- Instruct patients in exercise performance and training techniques
- Always ensure patient safety during rehabilitation sessions
- Continuously evaluate the patients' response to rehabilitation interventions
- Implement treatment modifications as needed
- Make necessary adjustments to exercise equipment to promote maximum safety, comfort and effectiveness
- Perform quality control checks to ensure safe operation of rehabilitation equipment
- Complete physical therapy documentation in the medical record within the prescribed timelines
- Provide oversight and direction to rehabilitation aides
- Instruct and evaluate physical therapy assistant students

Schedule: Clinic hours are 7:30-8:00 pm Monday-Thursday, 7:30-5:00 pm Friday.

Required Qualifications
- An Associate Arts degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program or completion of the requirements leading to educational exemption as defined by the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners is required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Certifications
- License in accord with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy Examiners is required
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience working in an outpatient setting with patients that have orthopedic conditions and sports related injuries.
- Experience working in an outpatient setting with patients that have neurologic conditions.
- Experience working on a multidisciplinary team
- Behavioral characteristics and attitudes that contribute to a positive work environment
- Works effectively with the supervising physical therapists
- Effectively manages difficult and/or medically complex patients
- Demonstrated effort to enhance one's own knowledge, skills and abilities
