Clinical Technician I, II, or III – DeGowin Blood Center

The Department of Pathology seeks a Clinical Technician (I/II/III) to operate and maintain medical equipment, collect and screen whole blood donors, perform phlebotomy, and assist with blood drives. The position is 100% full‑time with 8‑10 hour shifts, primarily Monday‑Friday with occasional weekends and on‑call duties.
Responsibilities- Screens prospective whole blood and apheresis donors and performs physical examinations.
- Collects donor samples for laboratory analysis and performs phlebotomy maintaining aseptic technique.
- Sets up and operates cell separators to collect blood components.
- Performs record keeping and data collection using manual and computer methods.
- Performs quality control of equipment and reports malfunctions to supervisors or nurses.
- Reports unacceptable results to the appropriate nursing staff.
Schedule:
8 or 10 hour shifts, Monday to Friday, 7:00 am – 7:30 pm. Occasional earlier or later shifts, weekends and on‑call as needed to accommodate blood drives.
- Minimum Eligibility Requirements: One year of health‑care experience involving direct patient care.

Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to perform phlebotomy; ability to operate and maintain medical equipment; excellent customer service; high school diploma or equivalent; valid driver’s license and ability to meet UIO Fleet Safety Program standards.
- Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Two years of health‑care experience involving direct patient care and some use of specialized medical equipment at the level of a Clinical Technician I, or a combination of related education and experience.

- Minimum Eligibility Requirements: Three years of health‑care experience involving direct patient care, maintenance of specialized medical equipment, and at least one year of prior experience at the level of a Clinical Technician II.
