Job Summary
The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at University of Iowa Health Care is seeking an Inpatient Occupational/Physical Therapy Clinical Supervisor to join the leadership team. In this role, you will help shape and support our inpatient therapy program by ensuring exceptional patient care, evaluating current services, and driving improvement to meet both patient and institutional needs. You will collaborate with other supervisors to manage daily clinical operations, mentor and develop staff, and coordinate student supervision, while maintaining a 50% clinical caseload to provide direct patient care.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, a collaborative leadership style, and a commitment to advancing high-quality patient care in an academic medical center. This position will be assigned to our University Medical Center Campus.
- Develop and manage the performance of occupational therapy and physical therapy staff; ensure staff are compliant with policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Provides feedback and supports HR initiatives in a positive manner.
- Collect and analyze financial and productivity data.
- Utilize the data to assist in budget development and preparation, resource allocations, and cost containment strategies.
- Manage shifts/units to meet budget goals.
- Maintains ELMS timecards, etc. of their assigned staff.
- Ensure standards of care, regulatory compliance, QA, and safety regulations are followed.
- Communicate with physicians, staff, and other units/departments on a regular basis to promote effective and efficient operations within the department.
- Provide evaluative feedback to students, staff, and residents; work with clinical instructors/educators to facilitate clinical education.

- Work Schedule:

- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy or Physical Therapy is required.
- Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills is required.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Demonstrated experience as part of a multidisciplinary medical team.
- Must be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite.
- 3-5 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist/Physical Therapist.
- 3-5 years of experience in an inpatient setting.
