University of Iowa Health Care is seeking an exceptional Nursing Manager to join our team to lead our Adult Dialysis Program. As a Nurse Manager, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and families affected by kidney disease. Our adult and pediatric dialysis nursing teams are dedicated to providing exceptional care, and we are looking for a skilled and compassionate leader to help us achieve our goals.
This position will be under the direct supervisor of the Dialysis Administrator in collaboration with Department of Nursing Director.
The Nurse Manager provides managerial and clinical leadership for the Dialysis Program to assure that all staff provide safe clinical care and have the education, methods, and resources to accomplish their performance objectives. This position will focus on planning, organizing, directing, evaluating, and improving health care operations, clinical education programs and research programs of clinical and health service departments. This position may periodically need to assume some direct patient care responsibilities to support the staff and programs.

Hiring
- Makes effective and timely recommendations in matters of hiring, promotion, transfer, and disciplinary action(s). Makes appropriate hiring decisions.
- Manages the talents, strengths, and behaviors of everyone from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives and provides each employee with the opportunity to contribute to the goals of the unit.
- Actively seeks participation from staff on decision‑making and customer service improvement activities; provides staff incentives and rewards for contributions toward achievement of service excellence.
- Demonstrates commitment to people; coaches staff to participate in team decision‑making.
- Develops and implements succession planning.
- Assures performance expectations are clearly understood.
- Holds staff accountable to meet or exceed patient needs/expectations as well as maintain standards of collaboration and respect within and among multidisciplinary teams.
- Completes staff evaluations on time with written, solid justification.
- Reviews attendance data, recognizes trends and takes appropriate follow‑up with staff.
- Knowledgeable of University of Iowa policies and Federal laws regarding leave and accommodation processes.
- Adheres to all UIHC guidelines and Labor‑Management agreements.
- Creates an atmosphere which provides for effective recruitment and retention of qualified staff.

Schedule:
Full time. Work hours are typically Monday – Friday between the hours of 8 am – 5 pm (1 hour meal break) with rotating on-call responsibility for the program, holiday and weekend coverage as needed to manage staffing needs.
Location:
University Campus - Iowa City;
Satellite Units:
Grinnell, Muscatine, North Liberty, and Washington, Iowa. Travel between units would be required.
Pay Grade: 6A

Education or Equivalency Required- Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field. If Master’s Degree is in related field, Baccalaureate in Nursing is required.
- If qualified applicant does not have Master’s Degree, the applicant will need to complete an advanced degree in nursing, health care administration, or business administration within five years of beginning this position.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa or ability to obtain an Iowa license by date of hire is required.
- 3+ years of nursing leadership and management experience.
