POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH SCHOLAR

A postdoctoral research associate position is immediately available in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Iowa. The successful candidate will participate in research projects focused on creation of delivery of mRNA nanoparticles.

The ideal candidate will have (or be soon completing) a doctoral degree in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, pharmaceutics, or a related field. The candidate must be highly motivated with evidence of productivity from peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations. Candidates skilled in in vitro and in vivo studies, nanoparticle drug delivery, and RNA therapeutics are strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate should ideally have experience using Solid Works, Graphpad, and Adobe Illustrator.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are desirable.

The successful candidate will be joining a team of biomedical engineers, cancer biologists, and radiation oncologists and will contribute to the ongoing work in the treatment of cancer and other disease states. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with state-of-the‑art equipment such as a small animal radiation research platform (SARRP), 3D printers, and injection molders.

The initial appointment for this position is for one year, with the potential for extension for a total appointment of up to 4 years based on interest and performance. This position is available immediately and will begin at a mutually agreed upon date. Salary is based on years of experience after obtaining the Ph.D. degree and is determined by the Graduate College ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).). Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

• Completion of Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, pharmaceutics, or similar area of study.
• Evidence of productivity from peer-reviewed publications and scientific presentations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Laboratory skills: in vitro and in vivo studies, nanoparticle drug delivery, and RNA therapeutics Experience with mouse models.
• Competency in Solid Works, Graphpad, and Adobe Illustrator.
