Position Type:
Full‑Time
The Rigger with CDL position completes a variety of rigging tasks, operates tractor‑trailers and other equipment, supports operations by moving objects, installing and dismantling equipment, and obtains the necessary skills of the position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in yard operations.
- Align levels and anchor machinery.
- Attach loads to rigging and prepare for moving using hand and power tools.
- Conduct pre and post‑trip inspections and operate tractors and trailers in compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Obtain necessary training and safety certifications.
- Attend rigging classes as required.
- Work closely with foreman and crews to move machinery and heavy items.
- Attach pulleys and blocks to overhead structures using bolts and clamps.
- Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames, etc.
- Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling gear to move or support materials.
- Follow equipment placement and tie‑down procedures.
- Understand and use rigging tools and equipment.
- Communicate clearly with coworkers, stay calm under pressure.
- Work overtime, weekends, and out of town as needed.
- Travel up to 50% of the time.
- Maintain punctual and predictable attendance.
- Collaborate with a team.
- Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and load movements.
- Read and create drawings and lifting plans.
- Complete necessary paperwork daily.
- Use basic and advanced rigging techniques.
- Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.
- Check with Dispatch for more duties when released by foreman.
- Use PPE appropriate for job.
- Work onsite at customer locations as needed.
- Respectively take direction from supervisor.
- Perform all duties safely and to best ability.
- Valid CDL.
- Current DOT Medical Card.
- Familiarity with DOT Federal and State regulations.
- Ability to tie equipment down per DOT requirements.
- Clean MVR.
