The Role and
What You’ll Do:
This position is primarily responsible for capturing weekly ENG, weigh-ins, and promotional material during Fight Week for most, if not all, of our North American live events. The videographer may also be assigned to cover fighter features, specialty shoots, and other global projects related to Live Event Production. Beyond camera operation, this role is encouraged to contribute creatively - offering ideation and direction, assisting with the visual styling (art, background, and overall aesthetic) of our standard shoots, and driving innovation in how we approach content capture.
- Creates high-end visual styles using lighting and camera techniques for the required fight hype and ancillary video needs each week for the live event broadcast.
- Build out, light and balance a pop-up interview site usually in the host hotel at each event or locally on the UFC campus in Las Vegas.
- Build out, light and balance the fighter posing stations, both against the uniform background and in front of a green screen.
- Shoot dynamic posing and shadow boxing from multiple angles for all new and veteran fighters when needed for fight promotion.
- Scout & shoot localized scenic shots, beauty shots and iconic geographical places in cities where events are held to use leading up to and within broadcast.
- Potentially man a camera during the live broadcast for assets and video to be used within it.
- Must scout locations for fighter feature shoots and potential specialized shoots.
- Observes sets or locations for potential problems and to determine filming and lighting requirements.
- Shoots stylized footage for promotional and product spots, show opens, features, trailers, sizzle reels, branded content, and more.
- Works closely with producers, directors, writers, editors, and other shooters on collaborative projects.
- Continually learns and stays ahead of the latest in camera and lighting techniques and technology.
- Works both a regular schedule and must be flexible to work an irregular schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with extensive travel.
You Have These:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ professional experience shooting a wide variety of content for all media platforms, in both field and studio environments.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Must be knowledgeable about the latest cinematography techniques and visual trends.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail required.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
- Must be discreet and trustworthy with access to sensitive information and projects.
