Position Type: Half Time (25 hours/week) Non-Exempt
Work Setting: Fully Onsite
Location: City Heights Site
Reports To: Site Supervisor
Pay Range: $20 – $21 per hour
Compensation Details: In addition to standard pay, compensation includes generous employer 401(k) contributions.
Benefits: Paid vacation, sick leave, 15 paid holidays (including Federal and Jewish holidays), floating holidays, and 2 wellness days per year.
Position Overview: Jewish Family Service is seeking a compassionate, mission‑driven individual to join the Safe Parking Program team as the Client Engagement Specialist. You will create a welcoming environment for families experiencing homelessness to enroll in the City Heights parking lot, support agency functions, and collaborate closely with the Site Supervisor and safety team.
Responsibilities- Create a welcoming environment for all Safe Parking participants, current and potential
- Guide participants to their parking location as they enter the lot
- Complete intake tours, paperwork, and data entry into the ETOi database
- Complete all agency logs and incident reports in a timely manner
- Communicate any concerns or issues to supervisor appropriately
- Assist participants with resources for basic needs or programmatic guideline clarification
- Ensure programmatic guidelines are upheld and followed
- Conduct daily/nightly attendance checks
- Mediator and resolve client concerns when necessary
- Provide immediate, professional response to any safety or security emergency within the site
- Know the clients, their needs, and connect them with help as needed
- Remain alert and active during your shift
- Perform other duties as assigned
- One year in a similar role or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience serving the underserved/unhoused population
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficiency in navigating computer systems, databases, and mobile phone technology
- Ability to work a flexible overnight, weekend, and holiday schedule
- Comfort working in a multilingual environment
- Prior social service, housing, or homelessness experience preferred (worked or lived)
- Ability to set limits with stressed clients and demonstrate good customer service under urgency
- Unconditional positive regard for clients seeking support from Safe Parking Lot Program
- Physical ability to walk/stand for long periods of time
- Reliable transportation to work
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Walk and navigate uneven terrain (gravel parking lots)
- Lift 20–25 pounds
- Stand/walk for long periods of time
