Patriot Custom Metals is one of the nation's leading custom metals operations. We fabricate architectural custom screening, ornamental custom works and a wide range of decorative, architectural and highly visible fabrications. We are seeking a Drafting Manager to lead a skilled team of 8-12 drafting professionals. This role is an opportunity for a strong technical leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes, and turning project requirements into accurate, production-ready drawings.

Our team has solid drafting talent. We need a leader who can provide direction, establish consistent standards, and strengthen coordination between estimating, drafting, and shop production.

• Lead, coach, and develop the drafting team, setting clear expectations for quality, productivity, and accountability.
• Manage project schedules, workloads, and priorities to meet deadlines and support production needs.
• Create and implement drafting standards, templates, and quality review procedures.
• Improve workflows to increase efficiency, reduce errors and rework, and keep projects moving.
• Partner with estimating staff to ensure project information is complete, accurate, and ready for drafting.
• Work closely with shop staff to provide clear drawings and timely information that support efficient fabrication.
• Identify missing information, resolve questions, and communicate changes before they affect production.
• Establish and track department performance measures, including turnaround time, drawing accuracy, and on-time delivery.
• Provide technical guidance in AutoCAD and Solid Works and assist with complex drafting needs.

• Proficiency in both AutoCAD and Solid Works.
• Experience leading a drafting or technical team.
• Experience supporting fabrication, manufacturing, or a similar production environment.
• A demonstrated ability to create processes, implement standards, and improve department performance.
• Strong scheduling and workload management skills, with experience balancing competing deadlines.
• A track record of continuous improvement with measurable results.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
• A practical, hands-on leadership style with a commitment to developing employees.

A well-organized drafting department that consistently delivers accurate drawings on time, communicates effectively with estimating and production, and continues to improve in quality and efficiency.

• $70,000-$80,000 commission based
