Job DescriptionPosition Overview
The Special Education Paraprofessional supports students with disabilities in academic, behavioral, social, and daily living needs under the direction of a licensed special education teacher. The paraprofessional helps implement instructional and behavioral plans, promotes student independence, and contributes to a safe, inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist the teacher with implementing IEP goals and accommodations.
- Provide small-group or one-on-one academic support.
- Support positive behavior strategies and student self-regulation.
- Assist students with mobility, communication, and personal care needs as required.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, and transportation (as assigned).
- Adapt and prepare materials as directed by the teacher.
- Collect data and record observations to monitor student progress.
- Promote inclusion in general education settings when appropriate.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to district policies and procedures.
- Assist with the organization and upkeep of the learning environment.
