Job Description
Position Overview:
Flender, located in Elgin, IL is seeking a professional, qualified and energetic senior level Engineer for its WIND aftermarket organization. The Senior Engineer will play a significant role in defining and developing service scope and solutions for Wind Turbine Gear Box repairs that best fits our customers’ needs. They will work closely with Aftermarket Sales, its German and other foreign affiliates, and customers in the industrial, construction and utility markets on technical, contractual and commercial issues.
Duties will also include supporting and leading projects and initiatives to ensure optimal plant performance, efficiency, and safety.
ResponsibilitiesMajor Duties - Drive service competencies in the following areas:
- Identifying repair requirements and advise alternatives for gear box assemblies.
- Assembling equipment Bill of Materials and presenting cost requests.
- Provide expert opinion to identify assembly processes / assembly sub-contractors.
- Provide Expert direction to develop Gear Box testing and qualification processes.
- Research, design, evaluate, and maintain parametric components, assemblies, drawings, part layouts applying a good, sound knowledge of engineering principles.
- Lead in RCA, PPAP, APQP4
Wind, 8-D, FAI and other Quality related technical support.
Minor Duties:
- Mentor and confer with engineers or other personnel to implement operating and other process procedures, resolve system malfunctions, or provide technical information.
- Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems.
- Develop and test models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modification.
- Specify components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
- Research and analyze customer sales orders, design proposals, specifications, manuals, or other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, or maintenance requirements of designs or applications.
- Provide technical assistance for component and final unit inspections.
Education and Experience
Possess a strong level of technical knowledge with the application, repair and design of Wind Turbine Gear Drives (Winergy and Multi-Brand)
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent degree). Master’s degree a plus.
