Development Engineering Technician, Electrochemistry

Redwood Materials is seeking an R&D / Pilot Technician. In this role, you will run and execute experiments at the lab and pilot scale that will enable us to develop new equipment, flow sheets and products.

Shift: Sun – Tues and every other Wed, 6am to 6pm

• Build and maintain lab equipment
• Prepare solutions and conduct wet‑chemistry bench experiments
• Prepare samples for analysis using established tests and techniques
• Perform chemical analyses, optical measurements, and mechanical tests
• Run and monitor experiments in high volume manufacturing
• Support the development of new metrology systems and prove their capabilities

• Associate or bachelor's degree in a related field
• Demonstrated basic knowledge of math, chemistry and/or computer skills appropriate to the assignment
• Mechanical design and fabrication experience
• Hands‑on experience building complex mechanical systems
• Laboratory experience in wet‑chemistry and bench‑top experiments
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Organization and documentation skills
• Strong ability to follow detailed technical instructions and operating procedures
• Experience troubleshooting experiments
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• A passion for sustainability and making the world a better place

• Must be able to work hands‑on in the lab, including standing and operating equipment at a lab bench
• Able to work in laboratory and factory environment for extended periods
• Able to lift up to 30lbs

• Environment: office, wet laboratory, chemical plant, outdoor test sites
• Essential physical requirements: working hands‑on in a research lab setting
• Travel required as needed, less than 10%

The position is full-time. Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
