Reliability Specialist

Verbio is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven Reliability Specialist for its biomethane and ethanol production facilities located at 59219 Lincoln Highway, Nevada, IA 50201 and South Bend.

About Verbio
This location is the site of the former DuPont cellulosic ethanol facility. At this site, VERBIO produces biomethane (renewable natural gas) from baled crop residues and ethanol from corn. Future growth will include an expansion of the biomethane process and retrofitting of the ethanol facilities.

Major Area Responsibilities

• Work with reliability planner/scheduler to true up the critical reliability schedule and planning priority list for assigned area.
• Utilize the reliability work flow process for small outage planning.
• Support large outage planning activities.
• Review break in (high priority work) with shift lead to determine priority and execution strategy.
• Review and support any planned work orders that require troubleshooting.
• Work with operations to ensure LOTO, MOC, process plan available for work order execution.
• Work with Planner/Scheduler in the development of work packages that follow recommended practices.

Essential Functions

• Develop and maintain the critical reliability list.
• Rotating Equipment – develop & maintain critical rotating equipment list, plan vibration round check & analysis.
• Develop program to analyze and react to vibration data.
• Develop and implement program to track lubrication of motors, bearings and equipment.
• Vessel Inspections – Floating roof, pressure vessels, non‑pressure vessels. Develop rotating inspection schedule, including risk‑based inspection and required inspections along with required frequency.
• Piping systems & components – develop inspection and repair program for critical piping systems.
• Analyze equipment and piping inspection and perform remaining life calculations.
• Working knowledge of Construction Codes (e.g. API‑510, 570, 650, ASME Section VIII, B31.1 & B31.3).
• Pressure relief devices – develop rotating inspection schedule along with list.
• Safety interlock testing – develop schedule for annual SIS interlock testing.
• Fire safety systems – support safety manager in fire system testing, inspection, and repair activities.
• Grounding Systems & Cathodic/Anodic Protection Systems – develop system to audit equipment grounding, lightning protection, and cathodic/anodic protection systems.
• Inerting systems – develop inspection program for inerting system integrity.
• Spill control & containment – support safety manager in audits and repair activities.
• Dust Control – develop inspection program for baghouses.
• Explosion Panels – develop inspection program for blast panels.
• Site Alarming, Backup Power, Cameras – support safety manager in audits and repair activities.
• Boilers & Burners – schedule and plan required boiler inspections.
• Work with E&I to develop instrument mechanical integrity including safety interlock checks and ongoing instrument calibration checks.
• Shift communication – support improvement in shift change communication activities.
• Process Safety Management & Process Safety Information – support process engineers in ongoing updates of equipment files.
• Support process engineers in the creation and progression through the Management of Change process.
• Support process engineer and the plant in Pre‑Startup Safety Review.
• Perform own investigations in assigned incidents that occur and meet the criteria outlined in the incident investigation procedure.
• Support reliability manager in KPI tracking and reporting as it relates to reliability metrics.
• Lead and assist in the Root Cause Failure Analysis.
• Perform downtime tracking and pareto analysis.
• Support project recommendations with utilization of the project charter & project spend plan for prioritization.
• Manage small capital projects & support large capital projects as needed.
• Follow the project process starting with a project charter, investment request, and develop project execution plan.
• Optimization, Troubleshooting, & Operational Support – participate in troubleshooting and report findings with recommendations for improvement.
