Thacker Pass,NV - Salary Range: $119,780 – $182,670 annually (Determined by function, education, experience, and qualifications of the applicant.)
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far—enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year. As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team of contractors engineering and building the facility.
The project is located in the high desert and wide‑open spaces of north‑central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border.
In this role, you will provide mechanical field engineering specialization and expertise with work planning and packaging, material management, quantity verification and validation, safety and quality control, technical inspection and testing knowledge, and subcontract coordination. Your recommendations will ensure field engineering activities operate safely, are complete, and conform to quality standards and project requirements.
Specialization & Expertise- Provides knowledge and expertise in a particular discipline, subject matter, or specialized process required for construction (e.g., tunnel boring, site de‑watering, glove boxes, special coatings systems, HVAC systems, Fire Detection and Suppression, reactor tender gallery coordinator, etc.).
- Provides technical consultation support to projects.
- Prepares construction drawings and sketches.
- Leads preparation of construction drawings and schedules and the design of temporary construction facilities and ensures preparation of “as built” drawings and other job plans.
- Initiates requisitions for field purchases.
- Prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
- Leads the verification of commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
- Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
- Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
- Reviews and approves inspection test plans.
Requires bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills- Knowledge of multiple technical engineering disciplines relating to the construction of heavy industrial projects.
- Thorough knowledge of construction activities as they relate to engineering disciplines, cost and scheduling, and contract administration.
- Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
- Knowledge of project‑specific environmental compliance requirements.
- Knowledge of Bechtel’s “Zero Accidents” safety program.
- Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
- Knowledge of current industry design standards.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Prior U.S. Mega‑Project direct hire construction experience.
