Senior Credit Manager

Position Description

The Senior Credit Manager is responsible to establish interpersonal business relationships with sales staff, customer service, and the entire customer base in order to maximize sales growth. This role communicates factual information diplomatically to stakeholders frequently in a high stress environment. The Senior Credit Manager obtains and analyzes financial reports as needed from customers to keep risks in line with incoming sales, as well as directs all collection efforts to maximize cash flow.

This role analyzes forecasting data to improve business decisions and supervises the credit department staff. Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Overall Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the credit/accounts receivable function for the entire company across all divisions, including US and Canada
• Conduct credit checks and assess credit worthiness for all new prospect accounts
• Be familiar with and keep updated on lien and bond laws across the country in order to utilize the statutes to secure VT’s interest with the goal of maximizing sales and minimizing risk and bad debt
• Identify and review all accounts deemed to be a high credit risk and mitigate as necessary
• Initiate contact with client/customers in order to facilitate the exchange of relevant information necessary for account reviews and subsequent credit line increases
• Establish and build strong working relationships with business leaders at all levels as needed
• Manage day-to-day client communication and ongoing relationships as it relates to outstanding invoices, as well as current, new and upcoming projects
• As necessary, attend trade shows and other industry credit events to capitalize on networking and relationship-building opportunities to obtain legal and factual information to enhance VT’s market position
• Manage and coach the internal team in all things credit and collections
• Process lien waivers as requested by customers to facilitate timely contract payments
• Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and five years of experience preferred.
• Proven ability to consistently and positively contribute in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to effectively communicate with client leaders of all levels (C-level down to entry-level support roles)
• Ability to work independently and manage personal time and team member time, keeping deliverables and deadlines top of mind
• Creative thinking and problem-solving aptitude
• Strong writing, phone, and presentation skills

Physical Requirements

Tolerance for sitting long periods of time. Possess finger dexterity to write, type, and use a calculator. Maintain adequate vision to view small print and computer terminal. Ability to speak and hear, walk throughout facilities with occasional light lifting (25 pounds), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms required. Ability to travel between multiple facilities as required to perform core job duties.
