Financial Analyst
Job Description:
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for a broad range of financial activities, including strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and dashboard reporting. This role requires strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for senior management. We are looking for a self-starter who thinks beyond the immediate request, someone who uses modern visualization tools (Sigma) and AI tools, such as Claude, to work faster and go deeper, and who connects the numbers back to the broader operational and strategic picture.
This position offers a diverse project portfolio and opportunities for professional growth and career development.
* This role requires a minimum of two days per week on-site at our Belle Plaine, MN site to support operational business partners. Remaining days may be based at our Eden Prairie corporate office or performed in a hybrid capacity.
EssentialRoles & Responsibilities
- Build robust reporting and dashboards in Sigma (or comparable visualization tools) to drive data-driven business decisions, and maintain them as the business evolves.
- Facilitate the preparation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts.
- Collaborate with department leaders to analyze financial results, explain variances, and communicate key trends or risks.
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports and strategic insights to senior leadership.
- Develop sophisticated models to project the long-term implications of potential business decisions.
- Partner with management to define key performance indicators (KPIs), identify system/process inefficiencies, and implement recommendations to enhance data quality.
- Execute ad hoc analyses and special projects to support high-level decision-making.
- Use AI tools such as Claude to accelerate analysis, automate recurring reporting, pressure-test models, and draft documentation while also applying appropriate review and judgment to the output.
- Proactively identify what should be measured and why, bringing forward the analysis leadership has not yet thought to ask for.
- Strong quantitative skills with the ability to manage large datasets, link financial results to operational drivers, and streamline complex tasks.
- Proven ability to apply critical thinking and sound judgment to complex business problems.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a track record of meeting deadlines.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across all levels of management.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently or as part of a team to address issues before they escalated; a true self-starter who scopes ambiguous problems, defines the approach, and drives work to completion with limited direction.
- Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Comfortable and curious with AI tools as part of a daily workflow, with the judgment to know where they create leverage and where human verification is required.
- Intellectually curious and a big-picture thinker (e.g., asks why a number moved rather than only reporting what it is, and constructively challenges assumptions).
