White Pine County is located in Northeastern Nevada and encompasses 8,941 square miles.
Responsibilities- Under the supervision of a Sergeant or senior officer, a
- Deputy Sheriff enforces state law and local ordinances,
- Maintains custody and control of inmates, renders public assistance, conducts criminal investigations, serves civil process, investigates traffic accidents and enforces traffic laws.
$25.24 per hour (entry level) Patrol Deputy. $23.07 per hour (entry level) Detention Deputy. Pay is negotiable depending on experience. An excellent benefit package as negotiated by an employee contract. $5,000 – $15,000 hire on bonus.
RequirementThe applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America. The applicant must be at least 21 years of age. The applicant must be in possession of a valid Nevada driver’s license upon hiring and must not be convicted of a felony in the State of Nevada or convicted of a crime in any other state that is deemed to be a felony in the State of Nevada.
The applicant must not have been convicted of the crime of Domestic Battery defined in NRS 33.018. The applicant must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Applicants must undergo a background check and have no disqualifying characteristics.
Employment is contingent upon completion of a medical examination (including drug screen). The Sheriff’s Office will provide the packet and provider for the examinations. Employee must pass an annual physical exam.
Visual Acuity/HearingVision 20/20 in best eye and not worse than 20/30 in worse eye with or without correction if correction is necessary, uncorrected vision no worse than 20/100 in each eye. Hearing:
Average hearing 1000/2000/3000 Hz must not exceed 25 dB. No single reading to exceed 35 dB at 500/1000/2000/3000/4000 Hz. A hearing aid can be accepted with a letter from an audiologist indicating proper fit and level of hearing correction in both ears.
Must be able to work any shift or days of the week and work in a security type environment and manage stressful and potentially dangerous/difficult contact situations.
Lateral TransfersLateral entry applicants who possess certification from another state other than Nevada will be required to pass the Nevada P.O.S.T. equivalency examination. The examination will be completed according to Nevada P.O.S.T. requirements.
